Excellent support, very efficient and useful.
Home Battery Storage in Suffolk, Essex and Norfolk
Store your solar. Buy off-peak. Keep the lights on. Cut your bills 60-80%.
A home battery stops cheap electricity going to waste. When your solar panels are producing more than your house is using, the spare power charges the battery instead of being exported to the grid for a few pence. When the sun goes down, your house runs from the battery instead of from grid electricity that costs four or five times more.
If you don't have solar yet, a battery still pays for itself. On a smart tariff like Octopus Flux or Cosy Octopus, you can fill the battery with electricity at 7-10p per kWh in the early hours, then run your house off it during the day and evening when grid prices hit 25-30p per kWh.
Greenscape Energy has installed battery storage across Suffolk, Essex, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and the wider East of England since 2017. We install four main battery brands - Tesla, Solis, Sigenergy and Fox ESS - and we will recommend the one that fits your home, your tariff, your existing inverter (if any) and your budget.

-
Your power, 24/7
Keep the lights, fridge and Wi-Fi on, even when the grid goes down.
-
Lower bills
A typical solar home saves £1,500 to £3,500 a year once a battery is added.
-
Solar goes further
Spare daytime power goes into your battery, not back to the grid for a few pence.
-
Off-peak savings
Charge overnight at 7 to 10p per kWh, then use it when grid prices hit 25 to 30p.
Why most homes need a battery, not just panels
Solar panels make most of their energy in the middle of the day. Most households use most of their energy in the morning and evening. Without a battery, the gap between when you make power and when you use it gets exported to the grid for around 5-15p per kWh, then bought back later at 25-30p per kWh. You lose the difference every single day.
A battery closes that gap. Generation in the middle of the day becomes useable in the evening. Self-consumption goes from around 30% (panels only) to 75-85% (panels plus battery). That is where the real saving lives.

What a battery does
-
Stores solar power for later
Charges from your panels during the day, discharges to your house in the evening.
-
Buys cheap, uses later
With a smart tariff, the battery charges from the grid in off-peak hours (often 11pm-5am at 7-10p per kWh) and powers your house through the expensive hours.
-
Keeps you running in a power cut
Most modern batteries can keep essential circuits (fridge, freezer, lights, broadband, boiler controls) running for hours when the grid goes down.
-
Earns money on the smart export tariff
If your battery is full and the export price is high, some smart systems will sell power back to the grid at premium times.
-
Levels out your bill
Peak charges, standing charges, capacity charges, a battery flattens the spikes that cost the most.

The annual saving row is the typical range for a solar home, with and without a battery. The other rows are typical for a four-bed Suffolk home using around 4,500-5,500 kWh a year. Your numbers depend on your usage, your tariff and how much solar you already have. We will model your actual saving in the survey.
What battery should I choose?
It depends on five things: how much power your house uses, whether you already have solar, what inverter you already have (if any), whether you want whole-home backup, and your budget.
Don't worry if that does not mean much yet, the battery range walks through it, and the survey nails it down for your specific house.
| If you want | Look at |
|---|---|
| The best-known name, full whole-home backup, 13.5kWh in one box | Tesla Powerwall 3 |
| Modular stackable system, expand from 5kWh to 40kWh, full ecosystem | Solis IntelliHome / FlexHome |
| Premium kit, future-proof, ultra-low standby, EV-ready | Sigenergy SigenStor |
| Mid-market sweet spot, AC or DC coupled, easy retrofit | Fox ESS EP6, EP12, EVO10 |
What we do
We design the system, supply the kit, install it, commission it, register it with the DNO, hand over the app, and back it with MCS, RECC, HIES, NAPIT and our own ten-year workmanship cover. Most installs are one day. We do not subcontract, the people who survey your home are the people we employ.
Already have solar? You can add a battery
If you have solar already, whether you have us, with another installer, or back in the Feed-in Tariff days, we can retrofit a battery. We look at what inverter you have, whether AC-coupling or DC-coupling makes more sense, and we will tell you honestly if a particular battery will not play nicely with your existing setup. There are some old inverters that battery brands simply will not work with, we will say so up front rather than waste your survey time.
If you are on the original Feed-in Tariff, adding a battery does not affect your FIT payments. See adding a battery to existing solar for the detail.
Frequently Asked Questions
01 How much does a home battery cost?
Indicative supply-and-install prices: Fox ESS EP6 from around £4,800. Solis IntelliHome 10kWh from around £6,800. Fox ESS EP12 from around £7,200. Sigenergy 8kWh module from around £7,500. Tesla Powerwall 3 from around £8,900. Solis 16kWh from around £8,500. Prices vary with site complexity, inverter compatibility and whether the battery is going in at the same time as solar (cheaper) or as a retrofit (slightly more). Your survey gives you the actual number.
02 How long does a battery last?
The cells last around 6,000+ cycles on lithium-iron-phosphate chemistry, which works out at 15-20 years of real-world use. The warranty is typically 10 or 12 years to a specified retained capacity (usually 60-80%).
03 Is it safe?
Modern home batteries use lithium-iron-phosphate (LiFePO4) cells, which are chemically much more stable than the lithium-ion in laptops and phones. The packs we install have built-in fire suppression, thermal management, and pressure relief. They are designed for indoor or outdoor mounting and certified to IEC 62619, IEC 62133 and UN 38.3.
04 Can I add a battery to existing solar?
Yes. Most homes can. We check inverter compatibility in the survey and pick AC-coupled or DC-coupled accordingly.
05 Will it keep my whole house running in a power cut?
Most of our installs are configured for whole-home backup or essential-circuit backup. Some inverters and battery models support full whole-home, others only essential circuits. We talk through the choice in the survey.
06 Do I need solar to have a battery?
No. On a smart tariff (Octopus Flux, Cosy, Intelligent Octopus Go, etc) a battery alone makes good money by charging at off-peak rates and powering the house at peak rates. See smart tariffs.
Our reviews speak for themselves
Great technical support from a most personable Callum.
My email was answered by Chloe Hickman who made the adjustment I requested by return. Thank you Chloe, well done. Keep up the good work.
Had my Air Con installed today.. Could not fault the two installers who attended. . Arrived nice and early, took a look around outside and indoors no hesitation in starting work and confirming where I wanted the appliance. Shoes off each time they entered house and completed the tidy up after themselves. Remote and operation of A/C explained to me.. Good work, keep it up.
I had a conversation with Callum Wrigley yesterday and he was very polite, efficient and completed my requirements very quickly, I would not hesitate to recommend him and Greenscape energy
Easy payment by credit card
I've just had solar panels, battery and EV charger installed by Mark and Luke. They arrived a little early, did the job as quietly as possible with no fuss, and have finished much earlier than I'd expected. Mark then explained what's what, which I think I'll remember. Couldn't expect more. Scaffolding subcontractor was similarly efficient putting the scaffolding up. The back office and survey staff have been friendly and efficient too. It has been good to be able to visit the showroom office in Ipswich.
Good communication. Did what was required promptly Thank you Callum
After leaving a message and emailing w/b 5 Oct 26, I telephoned again at the end of that week and spoke with Callum Wrigley in the tech dept. He listened to my concern, was very understanding and dealt with the problem I had efficiently and to my satisfaction. Thank you Callum
Good Service
Michaela, dealt with my finance query in a professional, efficient manner, and placated my fears that the progress on my solar system would be paused until the return of the surveyor from holiday. Good customer care. Thank you
Very professional and efficient from the sales engagement through to commissioning. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending them.
I have been very impressed with the service I received from Greenscape. The initial survey was very professionally done by Andrew and I was pleased that he convinced me not to have more panels than necessary. The team that installed the battery and inverter were excellent and very pleasant to deal with. The system is up and running and there have been no complications. I thoroughly recommend Greenscape.
I arranged to have solar panels and a battery installed by Greenscape via OVO Energy. From start to finish, the service has been excellent. From the survey, to the panel installation and battery installation, every team member has been professional and very friendly. The after sales have kept in contact to make sure everything has gone smoothly. Couldn't fault Greenscape.
