Privacy & Cookies Policy
This privacy policy sets out how we use and protect any information that you give when you use this website, and has been reviewed to reflect GDPR regulations.
We are committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement. We may change this policy from time to time by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes.
What information do we collect?
For the purpose of making an enquiry, our website will collect your name and appropriate contact information including email address, and phone number. Other information required to resolve your query may be requested, including your home or business address, plus your preference towards, or existing ownership of renewables products.
Our website uses also cookies to provide you with a better experience on our website, for fraud prevention and to provide internet based advertisement. For detailed information on the cookies we use and the purposes for which we use them, please see the information on Cookies below.
What is the purpose for processing your data?
Based on your consent. We will contact you to follow up your request for information about renewables. We do not send newsletters, or spam emails, and you will only be contacted in future if there is a reason to make further contact regarding the renewables product you enquired about initially.
As necessary for our own legitimate interests. Greenscape Energy may require your data to be used as part of statistics to inform market research, such as looking at the volume of enquiries from each location, allowing us to improve the service we provide.
We will also retain your details to inform you of important updates to the products you enquired about – for example legislatory changes to renewables funding.
As necessary to perform our contractual obligations – If you accept a quotation for renewables products from Greenscape Energy, we will require your data to arrange for the install, arrange for payment (no card or bank details are held on file), and to provide our aftercare service.
Will this information be shared?
We will not share your data with any third parties, aside from partner companies who may assist with the completion of your quotation or installation.
How long will the data be stored for
We understand our legal duty to retain accurate data and only retain personal data for as long as we need it for our legitimate business interests. Due to the nature of the renewables industry, legislatory changes are inevitable and we are duty bound as a company to keep our customers informed of these changes where possible, maintaining a legitimate interest in the data. However we will regularly review the data we have and will remove data that we no longer have a legitimate business interest in maintaining.
How can I manage or delete information about me?
The GDPR provides you with the following rights:
- Request correction of the personal information that we hold about you. This enables you to have any incomplete or inaccurate information we hold about you corrected.
- Request erasure of your personal information. This enables you to ask us to delete or remove personal information where there is no good reason for us continuing to process it. You also have the right to ask us to delete or remove your personal information where you have exercised your right to object to processing (see below).
- Object to processing of your personal information where we are relying on a legitimate interest (or those of a third party) and there is something about your particular situation which makes you want to object to processing on this ground. You also have the right to object where we are processing your personal information for direct marketing purposes.
- Request the restriction of processing of your personal information. This enables you to ask us to suspend the processing of personal information about you, for example if you want us to establish its accuracy or the reason for processing it.
- Request the transfer of your personal information to another party in certain formats, if practicable.
- There is no time limit on your GDPR rights, you can make a request at any time.
- Make a complaint to a supervisory body which in the United Kingdom is the Information Commissioner’s Office. The ICO can be contacted through this link: https://ico.org.uk/concerns/

Our website may contain links to other websites of interest. However, once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that we do not have any control over that other website. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement. You should exercise caution and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question.
An introduction to cookies
A cookie is a small file that a website asks to store on your device. It lets a site recognise your browser on the next page or the next visit, so it can remember something such as a choice you have made. Some cookies are set by the website you are visiting; others by a company whose content sits on the page, such as a map or a video player. A cookie gives us no access to your device, and holds no information about you beyond what you choose to share with us.
Cookies deployed by our website:
- Strictly necessary – to remember the cookie choices you make, so that we do not ask again on every page.
- Analytics, if you allow them – to understand how the site is used, such as which pages are read and where people leave, so that we can improve it.
- Marketing, if you allow them – to measure how well our advertising works.
- Maps, if you allow them – to show our location on an embedded Google map.
Cookies are not deployed to:
- collect any personal identifiable information (without your express permission)
- collect any sensitive information (without your express permission)
- pass personally identifiable data to third parties
- pay sales commissions
Your consent for cookie deployment by our website
On your first visit you will see a banner asking how you would like us to use cookies. “Accept all” and “Reject all” sit side by side, and refusing is as easy as accepting. If you arrived via an advertising or referral link we may store gs_campaign until you answer; if you choose Reject all it is deleted and not set again. Analytics and other marketing cookies described below are set only if you accept them.
You can change your mind at any time. “Cookie Settings” at the foot of every page reopens the choices, and turning a category off clears the cookies it set. We remember your answer for six months, after which we ask again.
For more information on the rules for cookies in the UK, we recommend visiting the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) website where you can find the latest information, guidelines and advice.
Cookies used by our website
Your cookie choices
When you answer the cookie banner we store cc_cookie, holding the categories you accepted, the date you chose and the version of this notice. If you arrived on a campaign or referral link we may also store gs_campaign (UTM parameters, Google click id and referral code) so a later enquiry form can send them with your details. If you reject marketing cookies, gs_campaign is deleted. Neither identifies you by name. To remove them, use Cookie Settings or clear cookies for this site in your browser.
Analytical tracking
If you accept analytics cookies, our website uses PostHog, hosted in the EU, and Google Analytics to measure how the site is used: which pages are visited, the type of browser, and general traffic. Neither collects your name or email address. If you do not accept analytics cookies they do not run at all, and turning analytics off later stops the tracking and deletes their cookies.
You can read how that data is handled in PostHog’s privacy policy and Google’s page on how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Advertising
If you arrived via an advertising or referral link we store gs_campaign so a later enquiry form can include that campaign. It is listed in the table below. If you reject marketing cookies it is deleted and not set again. No other marketing tags are set on this website at present. If we add tags that measure how well our advertising works, they will run only for visitors who have accepted marketing cookies.
Google Maps/Places
Some of our pages show our location on an embedded Google map. The map loads once you have accepted cookies, and Google then creates cookies that enable the functionality of their mapping software. No personal information is stored or shared by us through the cookies deployed by Google Maps/Places.
Forms, widgets and video
Some pages carry other content served by other companies: our survey booking form, the savings calculator on our funding pages, and video from YouTube, which we embed in its no-cookie mode. The booking form is protected by an anti-spam challenge that checks a real person is submitting it. When we last checked, none of these set a cookie when a page loads. Once you use them — by playing a video, or by submitting a form — the company providing that content may store data of its own, under its own privacy policy.
Social networks
We link to our profiles on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn from the foot of every page, but we do not embed their sharing widgets, and following one of those links sets no cookie here. What each network does once you arrive is governed by your own privacy settings and its policy.
Actual cookies deployed
| Cookie Category | Cookie Name | Cookie Description | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | cc_cookie | Records which cookie categories you accepted, when you chose, and the version of this notice. Set only once you answer the cookie banner. | 6 months |
| Marketing | gs_campaign | Remembers the advertising campaign or referral (UTM parameters, Google click id, referral code) that brought you to the site, so a later enquiry form can include it. Set on a campaign landing until you answer the banner; deleted if you reject marketing cookies. | 6 months |
| Analytics | ph_…_posthog | PostHog: tells one browser from another and remembers which pages were visited, so that we can measure how the website is used. Set only if you accept analytics cookies. | 1 year |
| Analytics | _ga, _ga_… | Google Analytics: tells one browser from another and remembers which pages were visited, so that we can measure how the website is used. Set only if you accept analytics cookies. | 2 years |
| Google Maps | NID, PREF | Set by Google when a page loads a map of our location, to remember your settings and preferences for the map. | 6 months to 2 years |
That is the whole list. Should we add anything else, its cookies will be added here and the banner will ask you again.
How to disable cookies
The quickest way is “Cookie Settings” at the foot of any page on this website, which lets you turn off everything except the record of your own choice. Beyond that, most modern browsers allow you to control your cookie settings for all the websites that you browse, and to delete the cookies already stored — to learn how, we recommend reading this advice posted by Google. Disabling cookie deployment completely may limit the functionality of other websites you visit; on this website you would only lose the record of your cookie choice, so the banner would ask again on your next visit.
