Tesla Powerwall 3
The most recognisable home battery on the market. We have installed Powerwalls since the original Powerwall 2 launched in 2017 and we are an established Tesla Powerwall Certified Installer for East Anglia.

What it is
The Powerwall 3 is a single floor-standing or wall-mounted unit containing 13.5kWh of lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) storage and a built-in 11.5kW solar inverter. It is designed to do everything in one box: battery storage, solar inversion, whole-home backup, and grid services.

Why people choose Powerwall 3
-
One product, one warranty, one app
Solar inverter, battery, gateway, backup - all in one box. No separate inverter to fail, no separate components to argue with each other.
-
Whole-home backup as standard
11.5kW continuous, 18kW peak. Enough to run an oven, electric shower, EV slow charge and the rest of the house simultaneously. Most homes do not need to compromise on what stays on in a power cut.
-
Tesla app
The best home-energy app in the business. Real-time energy flow, daily and lifetime stats, tariff configuration, automatic backup-reserve management, and integration with Tesla vehicles.
-
Stackable
Up to four Powerwall 3 units can be paralleled for 54kWh capacity and 46kW continuous power. Useful for large houses, off-grid setups, or rural properties with high heat pump loads.
-
Brand confidence
Tesla has shipped over 700,000 Powerwalls globally. The chemistry, software, manufacturing and support infrastructure are all proven.
Where it makes sense
Best for:
4-5 bed family homes with 4-7kW solar, heat pump in scope, EV in scope, where whole-home backup matters and the customer wants a single-brand solution with the strongest residual value.
Less ideal for:
small houses where 13.5kWh is over-spec, very tight budgets where Fox makes the maths work better, or customers who already have a working hybrid inverter and just want a battery (AC-coupled retrofits with Powerwall 3 can be done but the inverter built in is then wasted).
Compatibility
Powerwall 3 has a 20kW solar inverter built in. It can take any solar panels (Tesla does not insist on Tesla-brand modules). If you already have a hybrid solar inverter, Powerwall 3 can be AC-coupled but you lose some of its built-in inverter value.
Powerwall 3 supports time-of-use tariffs out of the box: Octopus Flux, Cosy Octopus, Intelligent Octopus Go, Agile (via third-party integration), and the equivalent tariffs on other suppliers.
It works in single-phase 230V homes (the vast majority of UK homes). For three-phase homes, three Powerwall 3s are needed (one per phase) or you choose a different system.
What’s in the box/on the wall?
- Powerwall 3 unit
- Mounting bracket (wall mount) or pedestal (floor mount)
- Tesla Backup Gateway (for parallel installs only)
- Tesla app + commissioning
- Manufacturer warranty + Greenscape Energy workmanship warranty

Prices vary with site complexity, cable run distances, fuse board condition and whether backup wiring needs to be added. Your survey gives you the actual number.
Warranty in plain English
Tesla warrants the Powerwall 3 to deliver at least 70% of its original capacity after 10 years of unlimited cycles, when used in the supported operating modes (self-consumption, time-of-use, backup-only). If it does not, Tesla replaces or refurbishes the unit. Greenscape Energy's workmanship warranty covers the install, the cabling, the consumer-unit work and the labour, also for 10 years. Between the two warranties, you are covered end-to-end.
What we have learned from installing them
We have installed many Powerwalls (PW2 and now PW3) since 2017. A few things we have learned:
Get the inverter siting right. Powerwall 3 runs cool but it does have a fan. We position it where the fan noise will not annoy you - usually garage, utility or external wall, rarely an internal cupboard adjacent to bedrooms.
The 11.5kW continuous rating is a real number. We have customers running heat pumps, EV charging, ovens and electric showers from a single Powerwall 3 in real-world UK homes and the system handles it.
Tesla's commissioning process is rigorous. We file the install with Tesla, they remote-check the configuration, and then they push the firmware over the air. It takes 30-60 minutes after physical install.
The app is what makes the product. Customers who like data love it. Customers who do not want to think about it can set self-consumption mode and forget about it.
