SunPower Solar Panels
The only UK domestic solar panel with a true 30-30-30 warranty: 30 years product, 30 years performance, 30 years service. Independently tested at 100x more durable than standard panels. And Greenscape Energy is East Anglia’s top SunPower installer and a SunPower Platinum Partner.
If you’re choosing a solar panel that’s going to sit on your roof for the next four decades, the warranty matters more than any other single spec. SunPower is the only manufacturer who covers all three components for three full decades.

At a glance
- Warranty
- 30-year product warranty + 30-year performance guarantee + 30-year service cover. No other UK domestic solar panel matches this trinity.
- Durability
- Independently tested at 100x more durable than standard panels. Shingled cell construction flexes instead of cracking.
- Reliability
- SunPower panel failure rate: 0.0050%. Standard panel failure rate: 0.5%. SunPower failure is statistically rarer than being struck by lightning.
- Performance
- Over 22% peak efficiency. 0.25% annual degradation (versus industry average 0.5-0.7%). After 25 years, still producing roughly 92% of rated output.
- Greenscape status
- East Anglia’s top SunPower installer and a SunPower Platinum Partner, meaning direct manufacturer support with no distributors, no middlemen, no passed-blame.
- Backed by TLC
- Ranked 44th largest corporation globally. Long-term financial stability rare for the solar industry.
- Sustainability
- One of the few solar brands with Cradle to Cradle certification for responsible manufacturing and recycling.
The 30-30-30 warranty, explained
Most solar manufacturers offer one of these. SunPower offers all three:
30-year product warranty
If the panel itself fails mechanically at any point in the next 30 years (delamination, frame failure, junction box failure, connector failure, glass breakage from manufacturing defects), SunPower replaces it. Most domestic panels offer 10 to 12 years of product warranty. SunPower offers triple.
30-year performance guarantee
SunPower guarantees that each panel will produce at least the specified percentage of its original rated output at every year of the warranty period. After 25 years, you should still see roughly 92% of the panel’s day-one production. If you don’t, SunPower replaces the panel. This is uniquely valuable because most solar warranty disputes are about under-production rather than complete failure.
30-year service warranty
This is the bit that genuinely separates SunPower from every other solar manufacturer.
With other brands, if you make a warranty claim you pay to remove the panels, ship them to a testing facility, have them inspected, and reinstall them. The panel manufacturer covers the product replacement cost but not the labour and logistics around the claim. Those costs can easily exceed the value of the panel itself.
With SunPower, every service cost is covered. No grey areas. Three decades of guaranteed performance, in writing.

Why SunPower panels are 100x more durable
Standard solar panel cells crack internally over decades of thermal expansion and contraction. The cracks aren’t always visible from outside, but they create unseen heat spots that progressively reduce panel output. This is the main reason most domestic solar arrays produce less than nameplate after 15 to 20 years.
SunPower uses a shingled cell design where the silicon cells overlap like roof tiles rather than being connected with metal busbars. The shingle structure flexes under thermal stress instead of breaking. Independently tested, SunPower panels are up to 100x tougher than traditional brittle panels.
Combine that with:
- Glass-glass construction. Most panels are glass on the front and plastic backsheet on the rear. SunPower uses glass on both sides. More rigid, longer lifespan, better fire resistance, more stable output across decades.
- Bifacial output. Both faces of the panel generate electricity. The rear face captures reflected and diffuse light, lifting annual output by roughly 8-12% in typical UK conditions.
Panel failure rates, in context:
| Event | Likelihood |
|---|---|
| Conventional panel failure during warranty | 0.5% |
| Being struck by lightning in your lifetime | 0.0065% |
| SunPower panel failure during warranty | 0.0050% |
A SunPower panel is statistically less likely to fail than you are to be hit by lightning. Independently tested, audited, and documented.
Greenscape is a SunPower Platinum Partner
Greenscape Energy holds SunPower Platinum Partner status. There are three levels of SunPower dealer accreditation in the UK; Platinum is the highest. What that means for customers:
-
Direct manufacturer support.
No distributors between us and SunPower. No middlemen. No “we’ll have to check with our supplier” delays.
-
Warranty claims handled by us directly with SunPower.
You don’t talk to SunPower. We do. You see one company from survey to warranty resolution.
-
Faster lead times.
Platinum Partners get priority allocation when stock is constrained.
-
Engineering support.
When we need a definitive answer on a non-standard install (curved roofs, hybrid arrays, partial shading), SunPower engineering is on the phone.
-
Direct training.
Our install team is trained by SunPower technical staff, not by a generalist solar college.
-
Platinum Partner status is rare.
There are fewer than a dozen Platinum Partners in the UK.
How SunPower compares to mainstream panels
Most domestic solar panels installed in the UK fall into the mainstream tier (JA Solar, Jinko, Longi, Trina). They’re decent panels, 25-year warranties, around 20-22% peak efficiency.
SunPower sits a clear tier above:
| Spec | Mainstream panels | SunPower |
|---|---|---|
| Product warranty | 10-12 years | 30 years |
| Performance guarantee | 25 years (typically 80% at year 25) | 30 years (92% at year 25) |
| Service warranty | Not included (customer pays labour) | 30 years included |
| Peak efficiency | 20-22% | Over 22% |
| Annual degradation | 0.5-0.7% per year | 0.25% per year |
| Cell construction | Brittle, can crack | Shingled, flexes |
| Failure rate during warranty | ~0.5% | 0.0050% |
| Glass-glass construction | Usually no | Yes |
| Cradle to Cradle certified | No | Yes |
The price difference reflects this. SunPower panels carry a premium over mainstream panels, but the lifetime cost of energy (LCOE) typically favours SunPower because:
- Lower degradation = more total generation over 30 years
- Lower failure rate = lower replacement costs
- 30-year service warranty = no out-of-pocket warranty claims
- Higher resale value when you sell the home
When SunPower is the right choice
SunPower isn’t the right panel for every household. Where it shines:
- Long-term residency. If you’re staying in the property for 15+ years, the warranty trinity pays back its premium comfortably.
- High-spec, premium properties. Homes where the £2,800+ resale uplift from solar specifically reflects panel quality.
- Constrained roof space. SunPower’s higher efficiency lets you fit more generation into limited roof area.
- Buyers who value lifetime ownership cost. People who calculate total cost over 25-30 years, not just the install quote.
For other customers, AIKO panels are an excellent premium-tier alternative at a lower price point, with 25-year warranties and TOPCon N-type cell technology that delivers industry-leading shade tolerance. We install both. The right choice comes out of the survey.
Pricing
SunPower panels carry a premium over mainstream and AIKO panels, reflecting the warranty depth and engineering quality. We quote SunPower panel systems on survey rather than publishing a starting price, because the optimal SunPower configuration varies significantly with roof size, orientation, and whether you’re combining with battery storage.
Indicative pricing context:
- A 10-panel (4.6 kWp) SunPower system with battery storage typically starts around 30-40% above the equivalent AIKO system
- The warranty trinity (30/30/30) makes the lifetime cost of energy lower despite the higher upfront
“Greenscape designed a system to my exact standards. 20 solar panels installed using premium optimisers, paired with a hybrid inverter and a 10 kWh battery. Every decision was made with aesthetics and efficiency in mind. The quote was on the conservative side of generation, and the project planning was excellent.”

I have used Greenscape Energy to install Solar Panels and Tesla Powerwall batteries and I can confidently state that they are an excellent company to deal with. I recently had a minor problem with the batteries not being charged during the cheap rate. Greenscape could not have been more helpful and put me in contact with Tesla to resolve the problem. Fantastic service from a professional company.
Michaela, dealt with my finance query in a professional, efficient manner, and placated my fears that the progress on my solar system would be paused until the return of the surveyor from holiday. Good customer care. Thank you
Very professional and efficient from the sales engagement through to commissioning. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending them.
I have been very impressed with the service I received from Greenscape. The initial survey was very professionally done by Andrew and I was pleased that he convinced me not to have more panels than necessary. The team that installed the battery and inverter were excellent and very pleasant to deal with. The system is up and running and there have been no complications. I thoroughly recommend Greenscape.
I arranged to have solar panels and a battery installed by Greenscape via OVO Energy. From start to finish, the service has been excellent. From the survey, to the panel installation and battery installation, every team member has been professional and very friendly. The after sales have kept in contact to make sure everything has gone smoothly. Couldn't fault Greenscape.
Common questions about SunPower
01 Are SunPower panels worth the extra cost?
For households planning to stay in the property 15+ years, almost always yes. The 30-30-30 warranty trinity eliminates the lifetime risk of paying for warranty claims, and the lower degradation rate means more total electricity generated. Over 25 years, the total cost of energy from a SunPower system typically lands below mainstream-tier systems despite the higher upfront.
02 What is the 30-30-30 warranty exactly?
30 years of product warranty (panel itself fails, SunPower replaces), 30 years of performance guarantee (panel doesn’t produce to spec, SunPower replaces), and 30 years of service cover (the labour and logistics costs of executing the warranty claim are included). No other domestic UK panel matches this combination.
03 How long do SunPower panels actually last?
SunPower panels are warranted for 30 years and expected to operate for 40 to 50 years based on their degradation rate and durability testing. They typically still produce around 92% of their rated output at year 25.
04 Why is Greenscape a SunPower Platinum Partner?
Platinum is SunPower’s highest dealer accreditation level. We earned it through install volume, technical training, customer satisfaction scores, and warranty handling track record. Practically, it means our customers get direct manufacturer support without going through a distributor chain.
05 Can SunPower panels integrate with my existing solar inverter?
In most cases yes. SunPower panels work with any standard string or hybrid inverter. If you’re adding SunPower to an existing array as part of an expansion, we check inverter capacity during the survey.
06 Are SunPower panels made in the UK?
No. SunPower manufactures in facilities owned by TCL (their parent company) across Asia, with European distribution. The Cradle to Cradle certification covers the manufacturing supply chain.
