Funding by product
Battery storage funding
0% VAT on battery storage (extended through March 2027), smart tariff arbitrage that turns a battery into a money-making asset, consumer finance over 60-120 months, plus battery storage inclusion in the Warmer Homes scheme.
Heat pump funding
The biggest funding section. Boiler Upgrade Scheme (ÂŁ7,500 for ASHP), Warmer Homes scheme, 0% VAT, smart tariffs designed for heat pump use (Cosy Octopus), and finance options.
Air conditioning funding
ÂŁ2,500 air-to-air heat pump grant for whole-home ATA installs replacing fossil-fuel heating. Plus 0% VAT, smart tariff support and consumer finance for all AC customers, with or without the grant.
Commercial solar funding
Capital allowances at 25% (corporation tax relief), asset finance, lease, Free Commercial Solar (PPA), plus public sector funding via PSDS and Salix for schools, councils, NHS estates and community buildings.

ECO4 & LA Flex Funding
The ECO4 scheme (Energy Company Obligation) is the Government’s flagship programme to help households improve energy efficiency and cut bills. The funding is provided directly by energy suppliers such as Octopus Energy and OVO Energy and is designed to cover the cost of renewable energy and insulation upgrades for qualifying households.
Who qualifies?

Homes with low EPC ratings (D, E, F or G).

Households on certain means-tested benefits.

Households on a low-income.
If you don’t tick those boxes, don’t worry. The LA Flex (Local Authority Flexible Eligibility) route allows councils to approve households who wouldn’t normally qualify but are still considered vulnerable or in need. This means that even if you don’t receive benefits, or have a low income, you may still be eligible for support.
LA Flex adds:
Families where someone has a health condition affected by cold or damp.
How much funding could I get?
In some cases, the entire installation; solar panels, heat pumps, and insulation can be covered, with no upfront cost to the homeowner.

Check your ECO4 or LA Flex eligibility with Greenspec EnergySmart Export Guarantee (SEG)
One of the best benefits of installing solar panels is the ability to earn money for the electricity you don’t use. Under the Government-mandated Smart Export Guarantee (SEG), energy suppliers pay households for every unit of electricity exported back to the grid.
How It Works
- Your solar panels generate electricity.
- You use what you need in your home.
- Any excess is exported back to the grid.
- Your supplier pays you a set rate for each kWh you export.
What are the rates?
SEG rates vary between suppliers, typically ranging between 5p and 15p per kWh exported. EDF Energy pays 15p per kWh on its SEG tariff, at the top of that range.
Pairing this export rate with battery storage means you can store excess solar energy and sell it back to the grid at that rate, maximising both your savings and your income.
Example:
Let’s take a typical 4kW solar panel system in the UK, which can generate around 4,000 kWh of electricity per year. If half of that (2,000 kWh) is exported back to the grid, here’s what you could earn:
- At 5pper kWhearnsÂŁ100per year
- At 12pper kWhearnsÂŁ240per year
- At 15pper kWh(EDF Energy)earnsÂŁ300per year
0% VAT on Renewable Installations
To encourage more households to go green, the UK Government has set VAT at 0% on a range of renewable energy technologies. This means you pay no VAT on both the equipment and the installation cost.
This 0% VAT applies to:
- Solar panels
- Battery storage systems (when fitted with solar)
- Air conditioning with heating capability (treated as heat pumps)
- Air source heat pumps
- This is a straight 20% saving compared to other home improvement projects, instantly lowering the cost of installation.
Finance Options
Not every household will qualify for grants, but that doesn’t mean renewables are out of reach. With flexible finance options, you can still make the switch without paying everything upfront.

Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a Government grant designed to encourage homeowners to replace old, inefficient fossil fuel boilers (gas, oil, or LPG) with low-carbon alternatives such as air source heat pumps or ground source heat pumps.
The scheme provides a straightforward, upfront grant that reduces the cost of installing a heat pump and is available to a much wider range of households than other funding methods, making it one of the most accessible renewable energy grants in the UK.
How much is available?

Who can apply?

Available to homeowners and small landlords in England and Wales.

Your property must have a valid EPC certificate (Energy Performance Certificate).

No funding is available for new builds, except where the homeowner is building their own property.

How It Works

Air Source Heat Pumps

01 Do I have to apply for the grants myself?
No. We handle every scheme application end-to-end. You sign your install agreement and we take it from there.
02 Can I combine multiple schemes?
Yes, in most cases. A heat pump install typically combines the BUS grant + 0% VAT + smart tariff + consumer finance. A solar install typically combines 0% VAT + SEG + smart tariff. The product-specific pages above explain the combinations that apply.
03 What if my eligibility status changes?
Most schemes lock in at the point of application. If your circumstances change between proposal and install, we re-check eligibility and adjust the proposal accordingly. The price you sign for is the price you pay.
04 Do you charge for advising on funding?
No. The survey, the proposal, the grant applications, the DNO and MCS paperwork are all included. There is no separate consultancy fee.
05 What if I am not eligible for any of these?
The 0% VAT, the SEG export rates and the consumer finance options apply to virtually every UK homeowner installing renewables. Even without the headline grants, the financial case for solar, battery, heat pump and AC works on bills alone.

I've just had solar panels, battery and EV charger installed by Mark and Luke. They arrived a little early, did the job as quietly as possible with no fuss, and have finished much earlier than I'd expected. Mark then explained what's what, which I think I'll remember. Couldn't expect more. Scaffolding subcontractor was similarly efficient putting the scaffolding up. The back office and survey staff have been friendly and efficient too. It has been good to be able to visit the showroom office in Ipswich.
