Caroline and her husband had been early adopters of solar, with a FIT-era system on their Martlesham Heath home for over 35 years — earning as much as £150–£200 per quarter in summer. Despite now running an EV, the couple's total annual energy bill sits at £1,101 — a strong result given their combined consumption of 4,440kWh per year. With a potential move to Octopus Energy for better export rates and a larger battery upgrade being considered, Caroline and her husband are well on their way to making their home even more self-sufficient.
