Air conditioning is the newest division in the Greenscape range, but it sits alongside everything else we have built over 14 years: the same survey process, the same employed install team, the same long-term commitment to the customer. We hold premium-tier installer status with Bosch and we have built a dedicated AC team that delivers across Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Peterborough.
We added air conditioning because the technology had quietly transformed into something genuinely useful year-round. Modern Bosch air conditioning is not just a summer cooling product. It is a heat pump in disguise: cooling in summer, delivering heat in winter at around 1.4p per kWh of useful warmth (when paired with battery and smart tariff), and a natural integration with the solar we have already installed for many of these customers.
The decision was also driven by what our existing customers were asking us to do. Once you have solar on the roof and a battery on the wall, the next thing many UK households want is a way to keep the lounge cool during the hot stretches we now have most summers, and warm in winter without firing up the gas boiler for a single room.
A wall-mounted air conditioning unit in heat-pump mode does both, at a fraction of the running cost of conventional heating, on electricity you are largely generating yourself. The product fit the integrated home electrification story we had already been building.
We were not in a rush. We tested units from several manufacturers before settling on Bosch as our default. The brand decision is what defines everything we install today.
Why Bosch
Bosch's Climate range hit the right combination of efficiency, acoustic performance, warranty depth and aesthetics for the houses we install in.
The Climate 3000i single-split outdoor unit is the workhorse, delivering high efficiency and quiet operation for smaller rooms. The Climate 5000i multi-split lets one outdoor unit serve up to four indoor heads, so a typical install of lounge plus master bedroom plus home office plus spare runs from a single external compressor. The Climate 3200i indoor wall unit is among the slimmest and quietest in the residential market, at 19 to 22 dB(A) on low fan speed and around 22cm wall depth. It does not look like a 1990s office unit.
Beyond the hardware, three things matter. The 7-year manufacturer warranty is the longest in the residential AC market. The R32 refrigerant has one-third the global warming potential of older R410A. And the Bosch HomeCom Easy app integrates with smart tariffs the same way our solar and heat pump systems do, so the AC can be told to ramp up in cheap windows and ride out the peak hours.
We are a premium-tier Bosch installer with formal manufacturer status. Our installers are F-Gas qualified and the F-Gas certificate is registered on every install we deliver. We do not install bargain-tier or rebadged AC units. Bosch only.
Winter heating, which is the bigger story for a lot of customers once they have lived with it for a year. Bosch Climate units in heat-pump mode deliver around 4 to 5 kWh of useful heat for every 1 kWh of electricity consumed. Combined with battery-shifted off-peak electricity at 7p per kWh, your heating cost in the rooms with AC drops to roughly 1.4 to 1.75p per kWh of heat. Cheaper than mains gas, oil, LPG, and very significantly cheaper than direct electric heating.
For some customers (typically smaller homes, or larger homes where only one or two rooms need to be kept warm during the day) AC in heat-pump mode is becoming a viable alternative to a full ASHP install. Lower upfront cost, faster install, same low running cost on smart tariffs. Not the right answer for every house, but the right answer for some.
Summer cooling, which most customers think they are buying. AC cooling load peaks during sunny weather between 10am and 6pm, which is also when your solar array is generating the most. For households with Greenscape solar and battery already installed, summer cooling is effectively free. The solar surplus that would otherwise export to grid at 5 to 15p per kWh powers the AC at no marginal cost.
Dehumidification, which is the quiet benefit. AC in cooling mode removes 3 to 4 litres of moisture from the air per day. In airtight modern construction or older houses with condensation problems, this reduces mould risk and noticeably improves air quality. Several of our customers tell us this is the change they noticed most.
How we install
1 / 4
A typical AC survey runs around 60 minutes. We measure the rooms, assess wall positions for the indoor units, identify a suitable position for the outdoor unit, check the cable run and condensate drain route, and discuss aesthetic considerations (some customers want the indoor unit hidden, others want it in the obvious lounge corner). We send a written proposal within 5 working days with a fixed price and a 90-day validity.
Install is typically 4 to 6 weeks from sign-off. Single-room installs are completed in a day. Multi-room installs take 2 to 3 days. F-Gas commissioning, pressure testing, refrigerant charge and the HomeCom Easy app setup all happen on the final install day. You leave with a working system, a register of the F-Gas certificate, and the manufacturer warranty paperwork.
The 2-year Greenscape workmanship guarantee sits alongside the 7-year Bosch warranty. We offer annual servicing including filter changes and refrigerant integrity checks. Most AC installs need no real intervention between the install and a service at year 5.
For Greenscape customers installing AC alongside an existing solar or battery system, we apply a £300 bundle saving on the AC install.
Indicative pricing
Single-room split
(one Climate 3200i indoor on one Climate 3000i outdoor)
From £2,750 supply and install. Most common spec is a lounge install or a bedroom install, completed in a day.
Multi-room install
(three Climate 3200i indoor units on a shared Climate 5000i outdoor)
From £5,000 supply and install. Typical multi-room is lounge + master bedroom + home office. Most cost-effective per room because one outdoor unit serves all three.
Larger or more bespoke systems are quoted in the survey. We do not install systems above 4 indoor heads on a single outdoor; for bigger homes that need more cooling capacity, we specify two or more outdoor units and the cost scales accordingly.
The two technicians, Luke & Cam arrived as scheduled, were courteous and respectful. They carried out the work as requested and invited me to inspect what they had done.
Luke also clarified and guided me through a particular aspect on the Solis App.

I have used Greenscape Energy to install Solar Panels and Tesla Powerwall batteries and I can confidently state that they are an excellent company to deal with. I recently had a minor problem with the batteries not being charged during the cheap rate. Greenscape could not have been more helpful and put me in contact with Tesla to resolve the problem. Fantastic service from a professional company.

I have been very impressed with the service I received from Greenscape. The initial survey was very professionally done by Andrew and I was pleased that he convinced me not to have more panels than necessary. The team that installed the battery and inverter were excellent and very pleasant to deal with. The system is up and running and there have been no complications. I thoroughly recommend Greenscape.

I arranged to have solar panels and a battery installed by Greenscape via OVO Energy. From start to finish, the service has been excellent. From the survey, to the panel installation and battery installation, every team member has been professional and very friendly. The after sales have kept in contact to make sure everything has gone smoothly. Couldn't fault Greenscape.

Where this goes next
UK air conditioning demand has accelerated significantly since 2022, and the trend is structural rather than weather-driven. New build standards are increasingly assuming AC. Existing homes are increasingly retrofitting it as part of broader energy upgrades. Most of our AC installs in 2025 and 2026 have been to households who already had Greenscape solar or battery; AC was the next step in the same long-term plan.
We expect the AC division to keep growing at this pace, and we have built the install team and the F-Gas-qualified engineering capability to scale with it. The brand decision is settled. The customer journey mirrors how we install the rest of our range. The economics, especially for customers already running solar and battery, are unusually strong.
